The short version

RunLoyal and Gingr both run boarding, daycare, grooming, and training businesses. The clearest difference is the app: RunLoyal publishes an app under your own name, while Gingr's pet parents use the shared Gingr app with your branding applied. RunLoyal also has staff apps built for kennel and groomer work, plus occupancy-based pricing and Vax Verify. Prices are at the end of the page.

RunLoyal gives your facility:

  • Your own app in the App Store and Google Play, included in every plan.
  • Staff apps built for kennel and groomer work.
  • Scout AI Vax Verify, which reads uploaded vaccination records and fills in the dates.
  • Occupancy-based pricing, which adjusts your price when your filled capacity reaches a percentage you set.

Why it matters

Every reservation a pet parent makes on their own is one less call to your front desk. Report cards and reviews are how they hear from you and talk about you.

Run your business your way

How each one is set up

Visual map

RunLoyal

The Visual Map is a drag and drop layout of your facility with custom colors. For each area you set the capacity and the breeds, pet types, and pet sizes allowed. Units can be marked internal, or unavailable for date ranges.

Gingr

Areas and lodgings are set up as lists. Each lodging has a maximum number of animals and a maximum weight, both guides that staff can override after a warning. No visual map, and no breed or pet type limits per lodging, in Gingr's docs.

Set it up your way

A few of the things you can configure in the Business Portal, each documented in our public release notes.

  • Pricing rules by day of the week, such as weekend-only fees.
  • Custom breed pricing, with "this or that" logic so one rule covers several breeds.
  • Which fields are required for a new pet owner, and which are prompted for when you add a pet.
  • Your own intake questions for each training service.
  • Report card permissions by staff group: who can view, edit, upload, and send.
  • Your app's colors, name, welcome message, and home-screen order.
  • Past-date booking, with a lookback window you set from 1 to 6 months.
  • The day your calendar's week and month views start.

That's a sample. The full list lives in our public release notes. Read the release notes

Vaccination records

RunLoyal

Pet parents upload a vaccination document in the app, Scout AI Vax Verify reads the vaccine types and expiry dates, and staff review anything that doesn't match exactly.

Gingr

Vaccination management is listed among Gingr's included features. Pet parents can upload immunizations in the Gingr portal, and staff review the uploaded files. Reading the documents automatically isn't in Gingr's docs.

RunLoyal

NYC's Click to Cancel rule took effect October 1, 2026. RunLoyal's Subscription Compliance setting lets pet parents cancel packages and memberships on their own.

Gingr

Pet parents can sign up for memberships in the Gingr portal and app. Gingr's help center describes canceling a membership or a package subscription from the owner profile or a report, as a staff action, and describes no pet parent cancel option.
